2. When the device is used in areas with poor signal, e.g. near high buildings or in basements, the call quality may be adversely affected.
3. When this device is used in a high call intensity period, like rush hour, call failure / poor call quality may be caused by network congestion.

Note:
If you are in an area of poor reception/signal, you may experience shorter standby time than usual. This is because your device is regularly searching for a better signal and therefore consuming battery.

There are a number of contributing factors which can affect the audio performance of your device:
1. The most common cause of poor sound quality is water in the microphone or speaker. If the handset has been subject to immersion in water then the microphone and speaker may need to dry out to resume normal functionality.
2. You, or the other person you are speaking with, may be in an area of poor signal. Try moving to a different area.
3. You may have dirt / debris covering the microphone or speaker. If so, clean your device.

How accurate is the Temperature measurement using the FLIR Thermal Camera?

Under typical conditions, temperature measurements have a tolerance of up to 5°C or 5% (typically 3°C or 3%). When high temperature mode is enabled (for temperatures between 120°C and 400°C) the accuracy is slightly reduced.

The accuracy of the temperature indicated by the Cat S61 can be affected by a number of external and environmental factors. The most influencial factor is the emissivity (glossy or matte nature) of the object being observed and the distance to the object. Other influences may be weather conditions or proximity to other hot or cold objects that may be reflecting off the targeted object.

There are two options to adjust the alignment between the thermal and visible camera.
Option 1:
The alignment between the thermal and visible camera is adjustable quickly by tapping on the alignment icon to the right of the menu icon and moving the slider until the alignment is correct. Move the slider to the left for closer objects and right for ones further away.
Option 2:
Within the MyFLIR Settings menu, there is also a tool that allows you to adjust the alignment if at any time the thermal camera and normal camera alignment drifts.
1. Go to Menu, then Settings and scroll down to "Image Realignment Utility"
2. Following the instructions on the screen - Place a hand or object in the field of the view about 1/2 meter away. Tap the camera icon to capture.

On the MyFLIR app, what is the Automatic calibration?

Automatic calibration is set on as default when you launch the app. The calibration resets the thermal camera intermittently to ensure quality and temperature accuracy. If you notice any temperatures that look incorrect, you can manually trigger a calibration by tapping the icon in the top right of the screen.

On the MyFLIR app, what is MSX Alignment?

MSX Alignment is Multi Spectral Dynamic Imaging or MSX, this incorporates real-time thermal video enhanced with visible spectrum definition, using both the thermal camera and the normal camera enriching the definition of the image for both video and still shots. Essentially, it merges the visible and thermal cameras to give better definition to the thermal image.

Why are my distance calculations inaccurate?

To maintain the accuracy of measurements, it is important that the laser/camera alignment of the Cat S61 is calibrated regularly. This will need to be done at first use and should be done frequently using the Measure app's calibration process.
To calibrate, go to Settings > Calibrate and follow the instructions on the screen. You will need a tape measure and a flat service, like a table to complete the process.

For best results:
- Ensure you are holding the device parallel to the object you wish to measure. It is important that your phone is not angled up or down.
- Use a height or distance of at least 1 metre for the calibration process.
- Using the same height or distance for calibration repeatedly means you do not need to manually re-measure each time.
- It is advisable to recalibrate the Measure app whenever the S61 has had any impacts / drops.
- Hold the device in landscape orientation.

For more information on how to get the most out of Measure - see "How To" videos here

Why isn't the laser dot automatically located in the image?

The Measure app will look for the red laser dot on the image shown on the screen. When the dot is located, a small green box will appear around the dot to indicate it has been found. If the image has other bright areas or the surface you are shining the laser on is reflective, the app may struggle to locate the laser dot. In situations like this it may be neccessary to manually tap the laser dot location on the screen.

For best results:
- Adjust the Exposure value to make the image darker or lighter to help the dot show up.
- Shine the dot onto a non-reflective surface.
- Keep any other sources of bright light out of the images.

I am getting inaccurate results with the Measure app, what should I do?

If you are getting inaccurate results from the Measure app there are a few things you can try to improve the accuracy:

- Calibrate your device. It is recommended that you regularly calibrate the laser / camera alignment, particularly after any drops of impacts to the device. When calibrating use as high distance as possible, up to 1.5 metres.
- Ensure you are holding the holding the phone parallel to the object you are measuring and not tilting the phone up or down.
- If you are re-measuring from an image saved in the Measure gallery, remember that you can only measure areas on the same surface / distance away as the original measurement.
- Ensure the red laser dot is directly in the centre of the green square, and in the middle of the crosshairs on the zoomed in view of the green square.
- The Measure app is designed for measureing distances up to 8 metres away, measuring a larger distance will give less accurate results.
- Keep the device as still as possible when you are taking a measurement, and for a second after the measurement capture button has been pushed.
- Hold the device in landscape orientation.

For more information on how to get the most out of the Measure app - see "How To" videos here

How do I measure floor area?

To measure the floor area you will need to measure the length and width of the room, then multiply these values together.

For more information on how to get the most out of the Measure app - see "How To" videos here

What are VOCs?

VOCs - Volatile Organic Compounds or, essentially, air pollutants - can come from a variety of sources such as cleaning agents, solvents, glues and adhesives, cosmetics, carpets and flooring, paints, aerosols and building materials - all items commonly found in a house or building environment.

For more information on how to get the most out of the Air app - see "How To" videos here

Can the Air app detect specific gases like CO2?

The VOC sensor in the S61 can only measure the concentration of VOCs. The sensor cannot distinguish between different VOC sources, but rather alerts you to the presence of a VOC.

Air cannot detect other pollutants such as dust or smoke, outdoor air pollutants, carbon dioxide and gases such as carbon monoxide or methane.

For more information on how to get the most out of the Air app - see "How To" videos here

Does the Air app work when in my pocket?

The Air app does measure VOC levels in the surrounding air when in your pocket. VOC pollutants may take longer to reach the sensor due to the additional layer between the sensor and the surrounding air. Therefore you will not be alerted to poor air quality as quickly as you would be with the phone out of your pocket.
