Using Cat phones to #BeUnstoppable: The Marine’s Story

Continuing our Unstoppable Stories series, here is Jeff’s view on the value of thermal imaging in a combat environment.

In Goldsboro, North Carolina, we met with Jeff Stewart, who had served for almost four years in the marine corps and spent time in Iraq. Recalling the environment he used to work in, he remembers specifically the fine sand, almost like ‘talcum powder’, which would get into all the equipment. They relied on equipment to be incredibly tough to withstand being bounced around in armoured Humvees.

In a combat environment, you can ‘use thermal imaging to save lives’

Most of all, Jeff recalls the pitch black darkness in Iraq. This is where he sees thermal imaging bringing real value to marines on the ground.
With no natural or artificial light available, patrolling at night is very risky.
Jeff believes that the functionality of thermal imaging in a smartphone, which help you to see heat signatures and know if either a dog or a person is approaching, can genuinely help to save lives.
